The project “Promoting the participation of girls and women in the field of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics” (abbreviated as STEMherVN) has been implemented by the Management and Sustainable Development Institute (MSD) since 2022 with the aim of inspiring and facilitating female students to access education and pursue careers in the field of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (abbreviated as STEM). In 2024, the STEMherVN project received financial support from the Qualcomm Foundation and Mitek Group.

Enhancing opportunities for female students – Ambassadors of the STEMherVN project, including those from disadvantaged backgrounds in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC), to pursue STEM courses and STEM-related career guidance, along with regular training sessions and practical visits.

The project has coordinated with She Codes Vietnam to conduct a 2-month Programming - Web Development course for ambassadors who are female students and high school students in Hanoi with the following contents: Support, guidance on final project; webinars, orientation and sharing from experienced people in the industry and employers, supplementary videos to consolidate knowledge.
On July 19, 2022, the Institute for Management and Sustainable Development (MSD) - United Way Vietnam in collaboration with the University of Transport and Communications implemented the STEMherVN program - Award Ceremony of the I Love STEM initiative contest. The event was attended by representatives of the MSD Institute, representatives of the Board of Directors, teachers and more than 300 students of the University of Transport and Communications, initiative groups participating in the contest, STEMherVN Ambassadors and media agencies.
Speaking at the media event "I love STEM" at Van Noi High School, Van Noi Commune, Dong Anh District, Hanoi. Ms. Tran Van Anh - Deputy Director of MSD Institute - United Way Vietnam gave the opening speech: "... Our STEMherVN project was born with the aim of improving opportunities, recognizing the talents and contributions of female students in the field considered to be the field of the future in the digital age. We are extremely impressed with the enthusiasm, intelligence and creativity of the students. They are worthy of being pioneers leading the change of the new generation - the future of the country."
At the program: STEM Career - Opportunities for everyone, nearly 200 students of Nhan Dao Vocational College learned more interesting information and knowledge about the field of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), listened to the sharing on the topic of Equality in access to STEM education, skills and qualities needed when working in the STEM industry from officers and employees of 3M Group. At the same time, 20 students with difficult circumstances and good academic achievements received the "I love STEM" scholarship, each scholarship package worth 500,000 VND.
On April 3, 2022, the Institute for Sustainable Development (MSD) in collaboration with 3M Vietnam Group organized a seminar on "Career Positioning in STEM - Opportunities for Girls" to create a space for close conversations for young people to answer questions and concerns about jobs in the STEM field and career orientations in the field. In addition, the seminar also hopes to help young people raise awareness of the community and society about gender equality as well as enhance the position and role of women in the STEM field.
On March 12, 2022, the Management and Sustainable Development Research Institute (MSD) in collaboration with 3M Group officially launched the STEMherVN project - Promoting the participation of girls and women in the field with the Online Talkshow: "Women and STEM: From stereotypes to positioning". The talkshow was organized with the desire to inspire and promote the participation of girls and women in the STEM field, as well as to build a close-knit conversation space for young people to listen to the sharing, stories and real-life experiences of women who have succeeded in STEM careers.
