A. BACKGROUND
Management and Sustainable Development Institute is a Vietnamese non-profit organization, originally established on March 5, 2008.
For over 15 years, MSD has been taking long-lasting efforts to contribute to addressing social issues of different communities in Vietnam. We always take actions to support, and help disadvantaged and vulnerable community groups, especially children, youth, women, ethnic minorities, and people with disabilities.
Particularly, MSD was the only organization in Southeast Asia that has officially become a member of United Way Worldwide – a global non-profit network operating for over 135 years in nearly 40 countries and territories. MSD successfully fulfilled UWW’s rigorous criteria for professionalism and effectiveness and officially has become a member under the name of MSD United Way Vietnam since 2021.

The Projects in the SDGs and Innovation (SDGI) Program include, but not are not limited to:
- Leave No One Behind Partnership Vietnam (LNOB Vietnam): The coalition of NGOs in Vietnam to ensure the voices of marginalized groups are heard and count in the process of Sustainable Development Goals implementation through Citizen-Generated Data (For further information on LNOB Vietnam, access here);
- Shinhan Square Bridge (S2B) Vietnam / Future Solutions: The project is coordinated by United Way Worldwide and MSD United Way Vietnam with sponsorship from the Shinhan Financial Group Hope Foundation. With an “open” innovation approach, cross-border and cross-sector collective impact, S2B Vietnam connects stakeholders in the innovation ecosystem to support innovative solutions that address social challenges and create sustainable impacts. - Doing Good Index: A study of the civil society environment in Vietnam through data collection from NGOs and experts;
- Inclusive Participation in SDGs in Vietnam: A project to promote the participation of social organizations and marginalized communities in the implementation of Vietnam’s Sustainable Development Goals. It will be achieved through (i) Meaningful participation of social organizations and marginalized communities in contributing to the SDG process of Vietnam in 2023 – 2025 and (ii) Capacity empowerment of the government officer in promoting inclusive participation in SDGs for vulnerable people;
- AI for Good Viet Nam: A competition for school students (aged 6 to 18), designed to encourage young people to use Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology to address and transform complex global challenges;
- Vietnam Scaling Up Energy Efficiency Project (VSUEE): To develop and integrate communication strategies that help promote energy efficiency in Vietnam’s industrial sector and contribute to achieving national targets on energy efficiency and conservation, ensuring energy security and implementing tasks, actions to reduce greenhouse gas emission and respond to climate change.
B. ASSIGNMENT REQUESTS
- Assignment purpose: The SDGI Communications Intern will support their direct supervisors (SDGI Program Manager and Officer) and the team to manage and execute tasks within SDGI programs.
- Working location: Hanoi
- Assigned manager and technical supporter: Directly report to and be supported/coached by the SDGI Program Officer and Manager.
- Main responsibilities:
In 2025, your diverse responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following areas:
Content Creation (Copywriting & Design)
- Write and edit communication content for MSD’s channels: campaigns, events, podcasts, contests, and project updates.
- Design communication materials (social media posts, infographics, presentations, banners) that align with MSD’s branding.
- Ensure all outputs follow MSD’s visual identity and quality assurance standards.
Campaign Development & Creative Ideation
- Support the ideation and development of communication strategies for flagship initiatives such as Leave No One Behind, VSUEE, and Shinhan Square Bridge Vietnam, etc.
- Assist in building and maintaining content calendars, communication briefs, and messaging toolkits.
- Recommend innovative, youth-friendly ideas to enhance audience engagement and visibility.
Podcast Production Support
- Draft episode outlines, storyboards, and scripts for series like Make a Scene and Unlocking Open Innovation.
- Assist with audio and video post-production, including editing and preparing assets for publication and promotion.
Online Course & E-learning Content
- Support the recording and production of training modules, knowledge-sharing videos, and capacity-building sessions.
- Assist with editing and formatting content for MSD’s learning management systems (LMS).
Website & Digital Content Management
- Update MSD’s websites with relevant project information, news, publications, and visual assets.
- Collaborate with project teams to ensure updates are accurate, user-friendly, and brand-compliant.
- Optimize visuals and page layout to improve content experience and accessibility.
Newsletter & Communication Analytics
- Assist in developing newsletters (e.g., for the VSUEE project), including drafting, layout, and distribution.
- Monitor digital communication metrics (KPIs) such as reach, engagement, and traffic, to support reporting and optimization.
- Contribute to donor reports by highlighting communication efforts and visibility milestones.
Event & Media Support
- Provide communication support for MSD-hosted events, including banners, media kits, and visual documentation.
- Support in drafting press releases and media advisories in both English and Vietnamese.
- Support in liaising with media outlets and journalists for press outreach, ensuring timely and accurate coverage.
- Support in maintaining a list of media contacts and track media mentions of MSD.
Internal Documentation & Asset Management
- Maintain organized records of communication drafts, visual assets, publications, and distribution logs.
- Contribute to internal knowledge-sharing by documenting lessons learned and best practices from communication activities.

C. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- Final-year student or recent graduate in Communications, Social Sciences, Public Policy, Management, Social Work, or other related fields.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in both Vietnamese and English.
- Confident in presenting ideas, creating engaging content, and storytelling across different formats.
- Strategic thinking ability, with an interest in social impact, sustainability, or inclusive development.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Word, PowerPoint, Excel); experience with Canva, design tools, or basic video editing is a plus.
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, and stay organized across multiple tasks.
- A good team player with strong interpersonal skills and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
- Willing and able to commit at least 6 months to the internship.
