RECRUITMENT: CHILDREN AND YOUTH PROGRAM INTERN (CYPI)

TERM OF REFERENCE

Job title: Project Intern for the Children and Youth Program  

Expected time to start: April 2026 or sooner if possible

Venue: MSD Hanoi office

I.BACKGROUND

Management and Sustainable Development Institute (MSD) is a Vietnamese Non-governmental Organization established on March 05, 2008. In 2021, MSD officially became United Way Vietnam, a member of United Way Worldwide, the largest global network of non-profit organizations.

II. ASSIGNMENT REQUESTS:

  1. Assignment purpose: The CYPI will support Program Management Officer and the team to manage and execute MSD’s program/project activities.
  2. Working location: mainly in Hanoi and work trips in several provinces.
  3. Job assigned manager and technical supporter: direct report to and be supported/coached by the Program Management Officer, and/or Program Director.
  4. Supervision: Volunteers.
  5. Main responsibilities:
  • Assisting with MSD projects/programs throughout the project/program management cycle (designing, developing the plan, coordinating the implementation, monitoring, and evaluation).
  • Assist in organizing events, workshops, training sessions, and communication activities of the program.
  • Take notes and prepare minutes of meetings and events; support updating program content on MSD’s communication channels (website, social media, etc.).
  • Update, compile information, and assist in reporting the progress of program activities.
  • The main assignments for 2026 will include but are not limited to (1) Safegate School Plus, (2) AI for Good Vietnam 2026 (3) HappIno School,  (4) STEMKidVN2026, (5) Water Ambassador, (6) School and Community Resilience

Safegate School Plus: The project “SafeGate School Plus: protecting children from online risks and harms” is to leverage existing SafeGate School technologies to improve education, prevention, detection and response to digital harms against children, and its worst forms (OCSEA) at schools in Vietnam. This targets to provide (i) technology solution application of SafeGate School Plus (SGSP) through the implementation of a participatory and inclusive approach, fostering more effective education and protection of students against Online Child Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (OCSEA); (ii) educating the students, teachers and parents in using the Internet safety at schools and even in families through co-designed, friendly and age-sensitives materials, channels and approaches.

AI For Good Vietnam: An educational program and competition for school students (aged 6 to 18), designed to encourage young people to use Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology to address and transform complex global challenges.

HappIno School: Since 2022, MSD United Way Vietnam has been promoting the Happy School model in disadvantaged areas across Vietnam through: Supporting school facilities and equipment to ensure quality education for students; Providing scholarships to help underprivileged students access education; Encouraging innovative, creative educational reform initiatives and digital transformation.

STEMKidVN2026: a grassroots-driven education initiative that aims to bring inclusive, practical, and inspiring STEM learning experiences to underserved students and teachers in rural and ethnic minority communities of Vietnam by providing essential toolkits, training programs, innovation challenges, and localized content on STEM.

Water Ambassador: provides access to clean water and promotes awareness and safe water-use behaviors, linked to education and school health.

School and Community Resilience: Support Schools and communities develop resilience and adaptation plans to minimize disruptions to learning caused by natural disasters, reduce psychological impacts after crises, and strengthen their ability to recover quickly.

III.QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Graduated or final year of bachelor’s in social science, social work, or related fields;
  • Ensure compliance with regulations on the protection of children’s rights, without any violations and harm to children’s rights and interests;
  • Experienced working with vulnerable communities, such as children, LGBTIQ+, people with disability, ethnic minorities, migrant people, and so on.
  • High command of communication and presentation skills in both Vietnamese and English;
  • Strategic thinking and analysis;
  • Strong MS Office;
  • Work independently and professionally; good teamwork;
  • High commitment to work. Being able to commit for at least 6 months.

IV. RECRUITMENT PROCESS

The recruitment process includes 3 rounds:

  • Round 1: CV and Cover Letter Screening
  • Round 2: Short Written Test for Shortlisted Candidates from Round 1
  • Round 3: In-person Interview at MSD Hanoi Office for Shortlisted Candidates
