On March 22, 2021, in Hanoi, the Management and Sustainable Development Institute (MSD), in collaboration with the Children's Department – Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, conducted a Workshop on Sharing Children's Voices Vietnam (Young Voices in Vietnam) at Nam Tu Liem Secondary School.
The sharing session in Hanoi was the first among the series of Workshops on Sharing the Voices of Vietnamese Children, scheduled to be conducted in March-May in 7 provinces and cities with children surveyed. The workshop was attended by the Committee for Culture, Education, Youth, Adolescents and Children of the National Assembly; Department of Children – Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs; Department of Information Security – Ministry of Information and Communications; Department of Education and Training of Nam Tu Liem district; Teachers, representatives of parents and nearly 700 students from Nam Tu Liem Secondary School and Nguyen Dinh Chieu Secondary School.
At the sharing session, the Workshop introduced 15 outstanding findings of the Young Voice in Vietnam survey and shared the reporting process used to develop national programs and policies for children, with the active participation of children. At the same time, during the Dialogue session, the students posed questions to the delegates about current outstanding issues such as children’s cyber safety, children’s freedom of speech, and bullying in school. On the street, men despise women, children are not listened to by their parents, etc. This is also an opportunity for children to listen more and also receive feedback from the authorities.
The series of workshops to share the results of the Young Voice in Vietnam will continue to be carried out in the following provinces and cities: Hai Phong, Lao Cai, Hue, Dak Lak, and Ho Chi Minh City. Ho Chi Minh and Tien Giang in April 2021. Children’s opinions will be collected, recorded and submitted to develop programs that ensure children’s participation and voice in their own affairs.
