PRESS RELEASE: LAUNCH CEREMONY OF THE AI FOR GOOD VIETNAM 2025 COMPETITION

LAUNCH CEREMONY OF THE AI FOR GOOD VIETNAM 2025 COMPETITION

Hanoi, March 27, 2025 – The Launch Ceremony of the AI for Good Vietnam 2025 Competition – Vietnam’s first AI for Good competition (Made in Vietnam) – was held at Phan Huy Chu High School, Dong Da District, Hanoi. This is an educational platform for students at all three levels of general education nationwide to apply Artificial Intelligence (AI) in solving real-world problems, contributing to sustainable development. The “AI for Good Vietnam 2025” competition is organized by the Management and Sustainable Development Institute (MSD United Way Vietnam) and InterEdu Education Organization, in collaboration with the Child Rights Governance Network and the Leave No One Behind Partnership.

Building AI capacity, mastering technology, and applying technology to address global challenges are urgent requirements for general education students in the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and rapid scientific and technological development. Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW, dated December 22, 2024, issued by the Politburo, emphasizes breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation, and national digital transformation to propel Vietnam into a new era of development. In alignment with this resolution, equipping the younger generation with knowledge and skills in AI not only enhances logical thinking and creativity but also lays the foundation for students to master technology, develop problem-solving skills, and adapt to the rapidly changing world.

Integrating AI and technology into general education not only helps students understand how AI works but also encourages them to apply technology in real life, thereby contributing to solving major social challenges such as climate change, healthcare, education, and smart transportation. This is also a crucial step for Vietnam in building a high-quality workforce, meeting the demands of economic and social development in the digital age, and asserting its position on the global technology map.

Thus, MSD United Way Vietnam and InterEdu, in collaboration with their partners, have organized the “AI for Good Vietnam 2025” competition for students across the country, with the hope that it will become an annual competition for Vietnamese students. As of the launch event, the competition has received commitments from partners, including the Vietnam Creative Teachers Community, the Child Rights Governance Network, Microsoft Vietnam, and Gold Sponsors such as the Embassy of the Netherlands and the Leave No One Behind Partnership. In-kind sponsorship has been provided by IIG Vietnam and Go Fly, while TikTok Vietnam is the media sponsor. Leading experts in Education and AI in Vietnam are also supporting the competition.

The stakeholders pressed the button to launch the AI for Good 2025 competition.

The AI for Good Vietnam 2025 competition fosters students’ passion for technology and encourages innovative ideas in leveraging technology to solve real-life problems and global challenges such as climate change, human health, cultural heritage preservation, and support for people with disabilities. Through this competition, students will develop 21st-century skills and contribute to achieving sustainable development goals. Participants will also gain exposure to the latest technologies, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning, and Network Security.

Ms. Nguyen Phuong Linh, Executive Director of MSD United Way Vietnam

In her opening speech, Ms. Nguyen Phuong Linh, Executive Director of MSD United Way Vietnam, stated: “Vietnam has been making remarkable strides in technology and AI. The government has set a national digital transformation strategy, and the younger generation—you—will be the pioneers of this revolution. I want to ask all of you here today: Do you want to be creators of AI technology rather than just users? This competition is not only a platform to showcase your talents but also an opportunity to learn how to use technology responsibly, creatively, and for the benefit of the community. More importantly, it reflects the Vietnamese spirit of curiosity and innovation. I hope that from here, Vietnam’s young innovators will create AI solutions that not only benefit our country but also inspire the world and contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.”
