Hanoi, May 20, 2024 – The General Education Innovation Support Fund (VIGEF), MSD United Way Vietnam Social Enterprise, and Trung Lương Primary School, Bối Cầu Primary School in Bình Lục District, Hà Nam Province, organized the “Happy School” event and provided teaching equipment to the two schools. The event was attended by representatives from the People’s Committee and the Secretary of the Bối Cầu Party Committee, school leadership, and nearly 1,000 students from the two primary schools. The donations were made possible by the contributions of over 85,000 philanthropists through the Super Application MoMo platform.
Trung Lương Primary School and Bối Cầu Primary School are two schools facing significant challenges in terms of facilities in Bình Lục District, Hà Nam Province. Trung Lương Primary School, located in Trung Lương Commune, has a total of 16 classes with 643 students currently enrolled. While the school’s infrastructure, such as classrooms and desks, generally meets the educational needs, the school lacks sufficient computers and televisions to implement the trend of modernizing education methods, such as using electronic lessons in teaching. Similarly, Bối Cầu Primary School, which is a national standard school level 2, faces similar challenges. Although the school serves 400 students and offers computer science courses, it lacks computers for practical learning, limiting students to theoretical lessons only. This lack of resources significantly impacts the teaching and learning quality at Bối Cầu Primary School, preventing students from gaining hands-on experience and comprehensive digital knowledge and skills.

Donation of Support to Trung Lương Primary School
Understanding this situation, to support schools in building a happy learning environment and helping children maximize their potential through modern learning methods in line with the digital age, the General Education Innovation Support Fund (VIGEF) in collaboration with MSD United Way Vietnam has organized a fundraising campaign for equipment for the two schools on the MoMo Super App platform. From March to May 2024, VIGEF and MSD United Way Vietnam successfully raised a budget of 250,000,000 VND to support:
- 7 Samsung 55-inch televisions to equip 7 classrooms at Trung Lương Primary School; additionally, 10 scholarships worth 1,000,000 VND each for disadvantaged students.
- 15 computer sets for the computer room at Bối Cầu Primary School.
In addition, the two schools will also be supported with programs and communications on the concept of a “happy school” and the “standard digital citizen.”

Speaking at the “Happy School” event and the support handover to the two schools, Mr. Đặng Tự Ân shared his thoughts on the concept of a “happy school” and the experience of happiness through the five senses of students. He also emphasized that a “happy school” can only be achieved through the joint efforts of all stakeholders. In particular, the infrastructure is a crucial factor in optimizing teaching and learning for both teachers and students, creating quality and engaging experiences. He emphasized, “We are in a period of digital transformation, and a happy school must also be smart. Students need modern learning tools such as TVs and computers to engage in interactive learning and keep up with the demands of the era. I hope that this small initial contribution will serve as the foundation for Trung Lương and Bối Cầu Primary Schools to continue building the pillars of smart happy schools for every child.”

We also thank the People’s Committee of the district and commune, the Department of Education, the teachers, and especially the students for always overcoming difficulties, utilizing all their abilities and resources to create the best conditions for the development of children – the future generation of our country.”

Representatives from the principals of Trung Lương Primary School and Bối Cầu Primary School also expressed their gratitude to the donors and committed to making the most effective use of the donated equipment.
In addition to the donation, the VIGEF Fund and MSD United Way Vietnam also organized a quiz, giveaways, and communication about the Standard Digital Citizen (SNET). The students learned about internet safety, how to stay safe online, how to use the internet during the summer break, play online games in the RIGHT, PROPER, and SAFE WAY, and the importance of thinking before taking any action, especially always seeking help from parents and teachers.
On their “Happy School” journey, the VIGEF Fund and MSD United Way Vietnam will continue their efforts to mobilize resources and bring educational programs, infrastructure support, and engaging activities to schools and students in difficult circumstances across Vietnam.
