Hanoi, March 25, 2021 – The Management and Sustainable Development Institute (MSD), in collaboration with the Vietnam Association for the Protection of Children’s Rights (VACR), conducted an online seminar “You are safe now, my child!". The event is within the framework of “Supporting access to justice for sexually abused children in Hanoi". This project is financially supported by the Judicial Initiative Promotion Fund (JIFF) – a component of the ODA Project “Strengthening the Law and Justice in Vietnam – EU JULE" funded by the European Union.
The seminar was attended by Mr. Dang Hoa Nam – Director of the Children’s Department, Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs; Ms. Ninh Thi Hong – Vice President of VACR; Ms. Nguyen Phuong Linh – Director of MSD; Writer and journalist Hoang Anh Tu; Psychologist Doan Thi Huong and representatives from social organizations as well as press agencies.
At the talk show, the speakers discussed the current situation of child abuse in recent years, policies and programs to protect children as well as ways to timely support the children victims who are unfortunate enough to be victims of sexual abuse. The extremely realistic and enthusiastic sharing of the experience of the speakers has partly helped answer the viewers’ questions and give viewers a broader view of the reality of abuse and harassment of children in Vietnam
The campaign “You are safe now, my child!” will continue with a series of activities: Talks with experts, Community media events, Introduction of media publications such as Parent Handbook, animated movies for children, social media, etc.
